Garry Kushnir

Dr. Garry Kushnir graduated from Stony Brook University in 2005 with a bachelors degree in biology and a sub specialty of neuro-biology. He then received his doctorate from the New York Institute of Technology in 2009. He has worked for Metro Physical and Aquatic therapy since graduation. He is currently director of the Rocky Point office in Suffolk County. He enjoys the personal aspect of working closely with patients, and watching them improve. He specializes in orthopedics and neurological disorders, but can treat all patients.

Alyas Hamid

Alyas is a recently graduated physical therapist from Stony Brook University where he also went for undergrad to study health science with a concentration in disability studies. Alyas has a strong interest for sports and orthopedics as he is always active in some way whether it is running, playing sports, boxing, hiking or working out. He aspires to become an orthopedic certified specialist and to enhance his manual skills with continuing education courses. He is an active reader of Advance for PT and Medicine and the APTA's JOSPT (Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy).

She has a wide variety of clinical experience including orthopedics, aquatics, pediatrics, and sub-acute. In her free time, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and friends, baking, and watching hockey.

Melanie Carminati

Dr. Melanie Carminati is a licensed physical therapist in the state of New York with a specialization in dance medicine and Pilates rehabilitation. Dr. Carminati received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Drexel University. She completed her graduate physical therapy internship at Polestar Physical Therapy & Pilates Center of Miami under Brent Anderson & Kathleen Bower. Dr. Carminati has interned with the Miami City Ballet, completed dance injury prevention screenings for students in the Ailey School-Fordham University dance program, contributes to ongoing dance medicine research, and has been published in the APTA-Performing Arts Special Interest Group. She has experience treating post-operative patients, high school athletes, student and professional dancers, patients with low back pain, and many other orthopedic and neurological conditions. Dr. Carminati is also a Pilates instructor with Power Pilates Certifications and Polestar Pilates training. She teaches Pilates mat group classes and private lessons. These Pilates wellness options are ideal for individuals wanting to improve their overall quality of life and fitness. Pilates classes/private lessons are also a safe option for physical therapy patients seeking a safe exercise maintenance program after being discharged from physical therapy. Dr. Carminati was on Performing Arts Scholarship for music and dance at Drexel University. She has extensive ballet, jazz, modern and salsa dance training. Dr. Carminati has danced with multiple Philadelphia area choreographers, completed a Limon reconstruction for the Centennial celebration, and had the opportunity to perform at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. Dr. Carminati is excited to share her passion for wellness to help individuals gain strength and confidence in movement and encourage others towards healthy lifestyles!

Anna Schiller

Anna received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy and her BS in Kinesiology from Husson University in Bangor, ME where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She has experience in orthopedic, geriatric, neurological, and aquatic therapy. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and subscribes to the orthopedic section. Anna is passionate about being outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, snowboarding, and rock climbing. She loves spending time with her family and her orange cat that resembles Garfield.

Melissa Tischler

Melissa received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from New York Medical College and her Bachelor of Health Science from the University of Florida, which she graduated Cum Laude. She has clinical experience in orthopedic, and neurological rehabilitation. During her free time, Melissa enjoys playing soccer, traveling the world, and cheering on the Florida Gators.

He obtained his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Sacred Heart University.

Brittany Haiduk

Brittany received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Touro College and her MS in Medical Humanities from Stony Brook University. She also received her BA from Dowling College in Biology. She has a variety of clinical experience including orthopedics, sub-acute, acute, and pelvic floor rehabilitation. In her spare time, Brittany enjoys hiking, yoga, and kayaking.

Rachel Martingale

Dr. Rachel Martingale was born and raised in Western Massachusetts. She attended Siena College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Rachel spent three years conducting research at the Center for Cell Biology and Cancer Research at Albany Medical Center where she discovered her passion for patient care. Rachel continued her education at Stony Brook University, where she earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014. Rachel was awarded the NYPTA Student Participation Award in 2013 for her involvement in the state organization, and in 2014 was inducted into the Alpha Eta Society, the national honor society for allied health professions. During her doctoral training Rachel had the opportunity to gain clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, school-based pediatrics, early intervention services and sub-acute rehabilitation. In addition, Rachel became involved in a number of community service programs including Project D.R.E.A.M., The Miracle League of Long Island, and various Amputee Soccer Clinics run by Dr. Eric Lamberg, EdD, PT, CPed. Rachel has developed areas of special interest including orthopedic rehabilitation, pediatrics, and adapted sports. During her spare time she enjoys running, yoga, cooking, snowboarding and hiking.

Daniel Nagorski

Dr. Nagorski graduated from Stony Brook University with his Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. Previously, Dr. Nagorski received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from SUNY Geneseo. He pursued a career in physical therapy due to a passion to helping people move better, and returning to their preferred activities. He has a strong background in orthopedic issues, and experience treating neurological disorders as well. He utilizes a wide assortment of therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, and neuromuscular reeducation in order to optimize your function, and allow you to achieve your goals. Dr. Nagorski enjoys spending time with family, watching the Mets and traveling.

Amarantha Birkel

Dr. Amarantha Birkel is a licensed Physical Therapist in the state of New York with a specialization in Pilates rehabilitation. Dr. Birkel received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from SUNY Stony Brook, and completed her undergraduate Bachelor of Biological Sciences degree at Virginia Tech. She has clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and sub-acute rehabilitation Dr. Birkel is also a "Third Generation" Classical Pilates Instructor with certification and training from the United States Pilates Association (a Subsidiary of The New York Pilates Studios). She has experience incorporating the authentic Pilates method to treat differing musculoskeletal impairments, multiple sclerosis, post-natal issues, as well as amputees, improving patients' overall quality of life and fitness. She teaches private lessons, serving as an option for patients seeking a safe exercise maintenance program after discharge. Dr. Birkel has a strong interest in both sports and orthopedics, and enjoys an extremely active lifestyle, whether it is rock climbing, Pilates, hiking, or weight lifting. She is eager to share her passions of fitness and wellness with her patients, and truly believes movement is medicine.
