Dr. Kayla Whiting, DPT, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2015, and is currently a physical therapist and the clinic director at our Riverside location in East Providence. She earned both a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island. She’s a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and since graduating, she has become certified in dry needling and earned a manual therapy certification through Evidence in Motion. Dr. Whiting specializes in orthopedics, post-surgical rehabilitation, injury prevention, sports medicine, and biomechanics. She is also one of Performance’s hand specialists. She has taught classes about diabetes to Coastal Medical patients.
Dr. Magdalene Deardorff, DPT, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2016 as a physical therapist at the Riverside location. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island. While at URI, she was the recipient of the Excellence in Research award for her contributions to research on myofascial trigger points identified using palpation and ultrasound imagining. Since graduating, she’s become certified in dry needling. Dr. Deardorff has expertise in orthopedic, post-surgical and pediatric rehabilitation, as well as with balance disorders, vestibular rehab, concussion management, and spinal disorders.
Dr. Kate Bourassa, PT, DPT has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2017 as a physical therapist at our Riverside location. Dr. Bourassa has a Bachelor of Health Science and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, both from Quinnipiac University. While at Quinnipiac, she volunteered at their VISION Clinic, providing free physical and occupational therapy care. Also during her time at Quinnipiac, Dr. Bourassa spent time studying abroad at the University College Cork in Ireland. Dr. Bourassa specializes in general and post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation. One of her goals is to become a certified Pediatric Specialist.
