Clinic Director Dr. Carolyn Rhoads, DPT, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2012. She is a Physical Therapist, Partner and the Clinical Director at the Sanderson Road clinic located in Smithfield, RI. After earning her BS from the University of Connecticut in 2008, she went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Rhode Island in 2011. During her time in Physical Therapy school, she had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand and learn about their healthcare system. Dr. Rhoads specializes in Orthopedics, Post-Operative Care, Sports Injuries, Balance Disorders, Vestibular Disorders, Neurological Disorders and injury prevention. Dr. Rhoads is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association.
Kerry Giroux, MSPT, CSCS, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2005 as a physical therapist. Kerry earned her bachelor’s degree in physical education from University of Rhode Island, then returned to earn her Master of Science in Physical Therapy in 2001. While at URI, Kerry played on the women’s basketball team and had the opportunity while playing to travel to many places including Alaska, Montana, California, and Ireland. Kerry is certified in dry needling and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Giroux specializes in Orthopedic, neurological and post-surgical rehabilitation, shoulder and knee rehabilitation, sports medicine, and functional dry needling. She’s also a clinical instructor.
Dr. Amy Goss has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2016 as a physical therapist at the Smithfield location, and she is also a partner. Dr. Goss received both a bachelor’s degree in Health Science and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University. Amy has gone on to earn certifications in dry needling, and manual therapy from Evidence in Motion. She specializes in general and post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation, manual therapy, general health, and fitness, and has served as a clinical mentor for physical therapy students.
Dr. Tyler Foster, DPT, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2016 as a physical therapist at our Smithfield location. She received an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Ithaca College and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Boston University. During his time at Boston University, he spent two years volunteering as a coach for the club soccer team. He has also spent three weeks in Cape Town, South Africa as a volunteer. Since graduating he has earned a certification in dry needling. He is currently in Evidence in Motion’s orthopedic residency program and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association. He has expertise in general and post-surgical orthopedics as well as in treating sports injuries.
Dr. Jennifer Furlong, DPT, has worked with Performance Physical Therapy since 2017 as a physical therapist at our Smithfield location. Dr. Furlong received a Bachelor of Science from Westfield State University in 2010 and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Northeastern University in 2014. Dr. Furlong specializes in general and post-surgical orthopedic rehabilitation, and she is certified in the Graston Technique. She’s a member of the APTA.
