Dr. Marcello Sarrica PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, CSCS, received his doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2006 from Long Island University. Upon graduation, he was awarded the department's highest honor of “clinical excellence.” He received his board certification as an orthopedic clinical specialist (OCS) by the APTA and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA). Most recently, Dr. Sarrica added to his certifications by completing a rigorous curriculum to become Certified as an Orthopedic Manual Therapist. Marcello is also certified in CPR/AED by the American Heart Association. Marcello’s background in exercise physiology, strength & conditioning and personal training has allowed him to work with individuals of all ages in Manhattan for the last five years. During this time he has successfully treated many orthopedic and sports medicine related injuries that are both post-operative and non-operative in nature. Marcello believes that high quality one-on-one physical therapy tailored to one’s needs is the most effective way to get patients better, faster. Marcello focuses on educating patients about their injuries so they can be more engaged in their healing and recovery. His clients range from community-dwelling older adults to the CEO's of Fortune 500 companies to young athletes. In his work with both young and older adults, he seeks to help each individual reach his or her goal in a safe manner. Since 2011, Marcello has worked as an independent Physical Therapist/Strength & Conditioning Specialist for Balance Integration Corporation/Bloomberg Corporation, NYC in their Wellness program. His efforts have led to a reduction in weight, reduction in body fat, increase in muscle mass/tone, improvement in blood levels, and a better outlook toward their health for hundreds of Bloomberg’s employees. Marcello has also co-authored a chapter in a textbook Therapeutic Programs for Musculoskeletal Disorders, designed specifically for residents and fellows. During his leisure time, Marcello enjoys spending time with his family, playing baseball and softball, doing weight training and taking long walks with his wife Patrizia and daughter Valentina and son Giancarlo.
