Amir Rand is the Clinical Director of SPEAR’s Financial District – 30 Broad Street location. He earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy with distinction from The New York Institute of Technology. His clinical experience includes outpatient orthopedics, sports-related injuries, and post-operative rehabilitation. While at NYIT, Amir completed a challenging acute bedside clinical affiliation at NYU’s Tisch Hospital. His experience at NYU gave Amir a greater appreciation for the rehabilitation experience. Growing up on Long Island, Amir played Division I soccer, lacrosse, and football. Amir is also trained in mixed martial arts, having practiced Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu for 10 years and counting. Amir’s experience with his own orthopedic injuries during his training sparked his passion for physical therapy. Prior to joining SPEAR, Amir was a divisional director for a Fortune 500 staffing firm, helping New Yorkers achieve their career goals. Through his work, Amir was exposed to a variety of industries and gained valuable insight into the daily routines of different types of business professionals. This has helped Amir to quickly relate to the needs of his patients, enabling him to get them back to life and back to work stronger than prior to injury. Amir continues to stay active by teaching kickboxing, playing soccer, and skiing. In his free time, Amir enjoys spending time with his family, attending football games, concerts, traveling, and relaxing on the beach.

Nicole Savarese, PT, DPT

Nicole Savarese received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the CUNY Graduate Center – College of Staten Island. She also received a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, New York. Her clinical experience includes orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, pediatrics, and both acute and sub-acute care. While at CSI, Nicole completed an acute bedside clinical affiliation at the Hospital for Special Surgery which greatly assisted her in understanding and appreciating the complexity of the rehabilitation process. During her time at the College of Mount Saint Vincent and College of Staten Island, Nicole participated in intramural basketball, soccer, charity events, and interned at a variety of orthopedic and sports medicine clinics. Nicole has always had a passion for sports and sports rehabilitation which has led her to a career in Physical Therapy. Nicole continues to stay active by kickboxing, spinning, running and participating in recreational sports. Nicole enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering for numerous charities and organizations, attending concerts, sporting events and traveling.

Rachelle Nguyen, PT, DPT

Rachelle received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, with advanced coursework in clinical orthopedics. She completed challenging internships in outpatient settings for competitive and professional sports, marathon running, and performing arts, and at New York Presbyterian Hospital’s neurological acute care and medical/surgical ICU. She attended the University of Southern California, where she was a recipient of student research funding with the USC Dornsife Biomechanics lab. She combined video joint angle and force plate analysis on USC dance athletes’ leaps and turns to create prehabilitation recommendations. Rachelle contributes her initial and continued love of physical therapy to her love of dance. She dislocated her shoulder as a high school dancer, and required a surgery with extensive physical therapy rehabilitation pre- and post-op. She was surprised and inspired that physical therapy could help her return to a high level of activity, and she strives to guide each patient in achieving and surpassing their own personal goals. She uses her trained eye for dance movement combined with a wide body of evidence-based research to find the root of each patient’s dysfunctions, and utilize the whole body to promote healing. Professionally, Rachelle is a member of the orthopedic section of the American Physical Therapy Association. She educates herself with a biopsychosocial model of pain perception and functional disability, so she can educate her patients to take an active role in their health care. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Rachelle has a love for big culture and unusual food. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys exploring the rich culture and restaurants of New York with her husband Brandon. She continues to keep active by teaching her friends to dance, and learning Beyonce choreography from internet videos.

Joseph Kim, PT, DPT

Joseph Kim earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Stony Brook University. Prior to attending Stony Brook, he completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Minor in Faith, Peace, and Justice. His clinical experiences include working with patients and clients recovering from sports-related injuries, general orthopedic dysfunction, chronic pain conditions and post-surgical procedures. Joe’s treatment approach is holistic, centered on the patients’ values and functional goals. It starts with a comprehensive evaluation to determine the true source of one’s pain and functional limitations. Joe utilizes his proven manual therapy skills, individualized therapeutic exercise prescription, and clinical reasoning to eliminate pain, restore optimal mobility and to help prevent injury in the future. Having dealt with persistent pain and running-related injuries himself, he is especially interested in the analysis of Running Biomechanics as well as chronic low back pain. Outside of the clinic, Joe loves watching and playing basketball, being outdoors and camping, and is currently pursuing a Starting Strength coach certification.

Jessica Weinberg, PT, DPT, CSCS

Jessica “Jessie” Weinberg earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from New York University. Jessie attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for her undergraduate studies, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and graduated with high honors from the College of Applied Health Sciences. Jessie was a research assistant in the Exercise Psychophysiology Laboratory and served as Human Relations Chair of her dance troupe. Jessie enjoys treating a diverse patient population and her interests include women’s health/pelvic floor rehabilitation, sports related injuries, and post-operative conditions. Jessie is Pelvic Floor 1 Certified through Herman and Wallace as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Jessie has been a personal trainer for over 5 years and is passionate about incorporating exercise and wellness into an individualized treatment plan to help her patients reach their goals. Jessie has always been active. Growing up, she participated in several sports including volleyball, track and dance. She now enjoys staying active by spinning, running, yoga, hiking and taking dance classes. During her leisurely time, Jessie enjoys cooking, exploring the city and spending time with family and friends.

Stefanie Pereira, PT, DPT

During her time in graduate school, Stefanie attended numerous physical therapy conferences and volunteered her time with certain organizations, including being a medical volunteer for the NYC Marathon. Stefanie has had experience in outpatient orthopedic, inpatient skilled nursing, pediatric and aquatic therapy settings. Stefanie’s clinical experiences have been diverse, allowing her to treat a wide variety of patients, which has enabled her well-rounded patient approach. Stefanie believes in creating individualized treatment programs and placing patient’s goals and values as top priorities. During Stefanie’s free time, she enjoys traveling, learning about different cultures, cooking, and spending time with family, friends and her dog. She also loves biking, hiking, the outdoors, playing sports and doing anything active.

Christine Lee, PT, DPT

Christine received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, with advanced coursework in Neurological Rehabilitation. While at Columbia University, Christine was an inaugural member of Columbia RunLab, where she performed running analysis for runners of all levels. Prior to her doctoral studies, she completed her undergraduate studies at University of California, Davis where she received her Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Biology. Christine’s passion for helping others return to a healthy and happy life stemmed from her athletic background as a gymnast. After 17 years of being a competitive gymnast, Christine understood the importance of optimizing body movement as a means for injury prevention and staying at the “top of the game” on a very personal level. Although, she has a strong interest in helping athletes return to sport, Christine enjoys treating a diverse patient population. In addition to completing her orthopedic affiliation at Stanford University, Christine has experience in working with patients who have neurological diagnoses including: stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord injury. Christine loves to bake all kinds of sweet treats and more importantly she loves to host dinner parties so she can share her baked goods with her friends and family! In her free time, Christine is likely hitting the gym, going on NYC foodie adventures, Skyping with friends and family in California or doing handstands in the outdoors.

Jared Schiffer, PT, DPT

Jared is a graduate from Ithaca College, earning both his bachelor’s degree and Doctorate in Physical Therapy there. He graduated with cum laude honors, and also earned a minor in Sport and Exercise Psychology. Throughout his six years in school, Jared helped conduct various forms of research and was heavily involved in the physical therapy program. In addition to his academics, Jared was a club lacrosse athlete and served as the President of his team during his senior year. Jared had the opportunity to complete multiple clinical affiliations in inpatient and outpatient orthopedic settings, spending his final experience with the University of Rochester Sports Medicine division. Here is where Jared gained valuable experience working with athletes and patients of varying functional and athletic levels. Jared was first drawn to physical therapy from a young age given his love for sports and his own personal experiences with sports injuries. He was intrigued by the incredible differences physical therapists are able to make in a patient’s condition, helping to reduce their pain and improve their overall quality of life. Jared loves helping his patients to grow and achieve their goals throughout their time in treatment. In his spare time, Jared enjoys to remain active by spending time outside, playing sports, and weight training in the gym. He also enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, and exploring new places throughout New York and beyond. Jared is also an avid Yankees fan, and enjoys attending Yankee games as frequently as he can. Most importantly, Jared loves spending time with family and friends.

Kelsey Klecan, PT, DPT

Kelsey earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from the University of Scranton. Kelsey has clinical experience in home health, pediatrics, outpatient orthopedics, and sports rehabilitation. During her time at the University of Iowa, Kelsey assisted with fundraising events for a Paralympic sports organization and participated in research projects. She also volunteered at a camp for individuals with disabilities and served as a teaching assistant. Kelsey is passionate about physical therapy and wants each of her patients to return to their highest level of function to reach their goals. She relies on an individualized approach and listens to each patient’s complaints, concerns, and goals when developing their care plan, which may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and patient education. During her free time, Kelsey enjoys completing HIIT exercise programs, traveling, spending time with her friends and family, and exploring New York City.

Daniel Romeo, PT, DPT, CSCS

Dan earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Columbia University, where he completed advanced coursework in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. Prior to pursuing his doctorate, Dan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Miami, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and has completed clinical affiliations in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and acute rehabilitation. Dan was first introduced to the healing power of physical therapy at a young age as a competitive high school track and field athlete while receiving treatment for numerous injuries. He understands how injuries and pain may disrupt life and has made it his life goal to help others get back to life. Dan is a self-described life-long learner and utilizes the latest evidence-based research in helping his patients reach their goals. He believes in an active treatment approach, which focuses on optimizing functional movement patterns and empowering patients with the tools required for lasting results and prevention of future injuries. He understands that every patient is unique, and takes the time to get to know his patients so that he can better tailor his care for each patient individually. In life, Dan truly believes that health is wealth and greatly values the opportunity to help individuals reach their goals and live their most healthy lives. Born and raised on Long Island, Dan now enjoys life in New York City. He enjoys playing basketball, golfing, and weight training in the gym. When not working with his patients or exercising himself, he can be found spending time with family and friends, enjoying time outdoors, and watching sporting events.

Kyle Veltre, PT, DPT

Kyle Veltre earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Alvernia University in Reading, PA. During his time there, he served as class president and had the opportunity to work closely with the faculty and staff towards bettering the physical therapy program as a whole. Kyle was also an active Division III soccer player during his time as an undergraduate. Kyle’s interest in physical therapy began when he sustained several injuries playing sports throughout his life. He was able to spend the majority of his clinical rotations in outpatient clinical settings, where he gained experience working with athletes of all age groups, post-operative rehabilitation patients, and general orthopedics. Most recently, his time at an outpatient performance institute clinic provided him with better insight on sports-related injuries and rehab. Kyle is grateful for the opportunity to treat a variety of patients, helping individuals get back to their prior level of activity and beyond. During his free time Kyle likes to remain active in soccer, participating frequently in weekend leagues. He is also an avid New York sports fan, rooting for the Giants and the Yankees with eagerness.
