Here are the Direct Access laws in Ohio, as described by the American Physical Therapy Association:

Ohio is one of 26 states that allow direct patient access to physical therapy with some provisions. Direct access physical therapy treatment in Ohio may be administered with the following provisions:

The physical therapist in Ohio must obtain a master’s degree or have two years of clinical experience.

If the patient does not demonstrate progress within 30 days of starting direct access physical therapy in Ohio, the PT must refer him or her to an appropriate healthcare provider.

The PT must notify the patient’s healthcare provider within the first five days of pursuing direct access to physical therapy in Ohio following the initial PT evaluation.

The PT may only apply certain orthotic devices.
