Direct Access makes self-referral for physical therapy easy in Montana.

Here are the Direct Access laws in Montana, as described by the American Physical Therapy Association:

Montana is one of 18 states that allow patients total, unrestricted access to a physical therapist. According to state law governing how people can leverage the benefits of direct access for physical therapy in Montana, no type of physician referral is required for a physical therapist to evaluate or treat a patient.

The PT must refer the patient to an appropriate healthcare professional if the PT feels that the patient’s care goes beyond the direct access for physical therapy scope of practice in Montana.

Failure to do so will result in license revocation.

Direct Access lets you self-refer for physical therapy. No prescription required.
